Madonna Fires Back at Trump Over “The King” Remark
Pop icon Madonna has reignited her criticism of former U.S. President Donald Trump, slamming him for referring to himself as “The King” in a recent social media post.
Trump made the declaration while celebrating his successful effort to block New York’s controversial $9 congestion charge for vehicles entering Manhattan.
The White House even reposted an image of Trump wearing a diamond-studded crown, sparking outrage from critics.
Madonna: “This Is Not a Joke”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Madonna—often called “The Queen of Pop”—reminded Americans of their nation’s foundation.
“I thought this country was built by Europeans escaping the rule of a King to create a government by the people. And now we have a president calling himself our King? If this is a joke, I’m not laughing.”
At 66 years old, Madonna has remained a vocal opponent of Trump’s policies.
She famously took part in anti-Trump demonstrations after his first inauguration and has spoken out against his stance on LGBTQ rights.
Trump’s Controversial Royal Persona
Trump has long been accused of acting like a monarch, often using religious and divine imagery to describe himself.
Following his assassination attempt in July, he claimed:
“I was saved by God to make America great again.”
His latest “King” remark has only fueled further political division, with critics warning that such statements undermine democracy.
New York’s Congestion Charge Battle
Trump had campaigned against New York’s congestion charge, the first of its kind in the U.S., during his reelection bid.
The U.S. Department of Transportation recently ordered New York authorities to halt the charge, prompting mixed reactions.
- New York Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, has already initiated court action to fight the federal order.
- Trump, however, declared victory on his Truth Social platform, writing: “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan and all of New York is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!”
With the 2025 political landscape heating up, Madonna’s latest remarks highlight the ongoing battle between Trump’s leadership style and democratic values.
As Trump continues his campaign, will more celebrities speak out against his rhetoric?
