Lagos taskforce seizes 70 vehicles for traffic violations.

On Monday, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, commonly referred to as the Lagos State Taskforce, seized at least 70 vehicles.

The Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday said the vehicles were impounded “for flagrant violation of the Lagos State traffic law as amended.”

“The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce), today confiscated seventy vehicles for flagrant violation of the Lagos State traffic law as amended.

“The vehicles were impounded in coordinated operations carried out at target locations where reckless traffic violations by commercial transporters cause avoidable traffic congestions and general public nuisance,” the statement said.

Warning motorists in the habit of traffic recklessness, the statement quoted the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, to have maintained that the agency under his stewardship will not spare violators of environmental and traffic laws of the state any breathing space.

He added that only when citizens cooperate and obey relevant laws, will environmental sanity, safety and security of the citizenry can be improved and preserved generally.
