Lagos State Strengthens Fight Against Underage Gambling

Government Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy on Minors in Gaming Industry
The Lagos State Government has reinforced its unwavering commitment to combating underage gambling, stressing that it will continue to enforce strict regulations to protect minors from the dangers of gambling.

During a stakeholders’ press conference, the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) emphasized that it remains dedicated to ensuring that the gaming industry operates responsibly.

Strict Regulations to Protect Minors

The CEO of LSLGA and Chairman of the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria, Mr. Basil Are, reiterated that preventing underage gambling is a top priority for both the state government and regulatory bodies.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for underage gambling, and we will continue to implement strict measures to ensure that gaming operators comply with the law,” Are stated.

He also noted that the Lagos State Government is actively working with stakeholders to strengthen regulations, enhance monitoring, and enforce penalties for violators.

Upcoming Africa Gaming Expo 2025

As part of efforts to promote responsible gaming practices, Lagos will host the Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) 2025 from February 25 to 27 at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites.

The event will bring together industry leaders, regulators, and stakeholders to discuss policies, innovations, and challenges in the gaming sector while promoting ethical standards.

A Commitment to Responsible Gaming

With gambling becoming increasingly accessible through digital platforms, Lagos State is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of minors.

The government is urging parents, educators, and gaming operators to join the fight against underage gambling.

As enforcement intensifies, gaming operators who violate regulations may face penalties, sanctions, or possible license revocation.

The Lagos State Government remains firm in its stance: underage gambling will not be tolerated, and efforts to safeguard young people from its risks will continue.
