Kwara Senator Saliu Mustapha Denies APC Defection Rumors

Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has dismissed rumors about his alleged plan to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party, describing himself as a founding member.

His media aide, Nasif Sholagberu, issued a press statement in Ilorin on Monday, addressing the rumors.

The statement highlighted: “We have noted several fabricated reports circulating on social media, claiming a supposed endorsement and defection involving Senator Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate and Senator representing Kwara Central.

“As a matter of policy, we typically do not respond to fake news or its sources. This explains our silence over the past weeks as baseless allegations, orchestrated by the usual suspects, have spread recklessly online.”

The statement further noted that the individuals behind these false claims are well-known, as are their motives and desperation.

It emphasized that leadership and ambition are determined by God, not by smear campaigns.

The Senator, the statement clarified, remains committed to his mandate at the National Assembly, which is to provide quality representation to the people of Kwara Central.

He is focused on his responsibilities and refuses to be distracted by groundless propaganda.

“For clarity, Senator Saliu Mustapha is a loyal founding member of the APC. As one of the signatories to the February 2013 agreement that merged the three legacy parties to form the APC, his contributions to the party’s creation and growth are well-documented and appreciated by party members and stakeholders,” the statement added.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard the false reports, labeling them as baseless fabrications from mischief makers with no constructive agenda.
