The Kebbi State Police Command has displayed remarkable integrity by rejecting a ₦1 million bribe offered by three suspects linked to the Lakurawa terrorist group.

CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed that the suspects, Umaru Garba (53), Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji Mamman (51), and Usman Muhammadu (50), attempted to bribe investigators to halt an inquiry into their involvement in banditry.

The incident occurred at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) premises in Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.

“The suspects conspired to offer the bribe to influence the outcome of the investigation and prosecution,” CSP Abubakar stated.

The suspects were immediately apprehended, and ongoing investigations will lead to their prosecution in court.

Commending the officers for their professionalism, Commissioner of Police Bello Sani emphasized the importance of integrity in law enforcement.

“This act demonstrates the Kebbi Police Command’s commitment to justice and the rule of law,” he said.

The Commissioner further reassured residents of Kebbi State of the Command’s dedication to combating banditry and crime, highlighting its crucial role in fostering socio-economic stability.
