Kano Government to Act on Protest Report
The Kano State Government has vowed to implement the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry investigating the End Bad Governance protest that took place on August 1, 2024.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made the commitment after receiving the report from Justice Lawan Wada (rtd) during the 25th Kano State Executive Council meeting at the Government House.

A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed that a white paper would be issued, identifying the individuals and groups responsible for funding and instigating the violence.

Governor’s Response

Governor Yusuf emphasized that his administration did not interfere with the commission’s six-month-long investigation, allowing the members to work independently.

“I trust in the integrity and professionalism of the committee members. They were selected based on merit, and I believe they have done a fair job,” he stated.

The governor assured that his administration would take decisive action on the report’s recommendations to prevent future violence.

Panel’s Investigation Process

Justice Wada explained that the committee:

  • Engaged stakeholders, including victims and community leaders.
  • Compiled a detailed account of the protest’s impact.
