A woman who previously accused hip-hop icons Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting her as a teenager has withdrawn her lawsuit, according to court records filed on Friday.
The lawsuit, originally filed in December 2024, alleged that the music moguls assaulted the plaintiff at an afterparty following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.
However, a recent court document confirms that the case has been dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled in the future.
No Confirmation of Settlement
It remains unclear whether a settlement was reached, as the accuser, who has chosen to remain anonymous, has not made any public statements regarding her decision.
In response to the case’s dismissal, Jay-Z, 55, released a statement, calling the allegations “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.”
“This lawsuit had no merit and was never going anywhere. The fictional story they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the accusations.
The trauma my wife, children, loved ones, and I have endured throughout this process cannot be undone.”
Diddy Still Facing Separate Charges
While this particular case has been closed, Diddy, 55, remains entangled in a separate criminal case involving allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Prosecutors claim that he was involved in coercing women into drug-fueled parties and engaging in abusive acts.
Diddy has denied all charges, and his criminal trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
