Israel Investigates Hamas’ Claim of Female Hostage’s Death

Israeli authorities are actively investigating a claim made by Hamas regarding the death of a female hostage in Gaza during ongoing Israeli military operations.

Hamas, which has not revealed the woman’s identity, stated that she was killed after communication with her captors was restored, following weeks of silence.

Hamas’s spokesperson, Abu Ubeida, also claimed that another female hostage, who was being held alongside the deceased, was injured and remains in critical condition.

In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed they are looking into the report and are in contact with the woman’s family.

They have yet to verify or dismiss the claim.

The IDF stated, “This evening, the terrorist organization Hamas released a document in which a kidnapped woman is allegedly seen killed.

We are checking the information and at this stage cannot verify or refute it.”

Israel believes that around 60 hostages are still alive in Gaza, with the remains of several others suspected to be in the region.

The hostages were captured during Hamas’s surprise attack on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 individuals.

This claim comes amid Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza, aimed at dismantling Hamas’s military infrastructure.

According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, Israeli airstrikes in the past 48 hours have killed 120 people. The death toll in Gaza since the conflict began is nearly 44,000, with more than 104,000 injured.

The ongoing hostilities are compounded by the designation of Hamas as a terrorist organization by the US, UK, and EU, making international intervention more complicated.

Despite this, Israeli officials have reiterated their commitment to securing the release of the remaining hostages as part of their broader military operation in Gaza.
