Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has expressed her gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting attempts by certain groups and individuals to recall her from the Senate.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan praised INEC for upholding constitutional justice and refusing to succumb to pressure from what she described as “undemocratic elements” in Kogi State and the Senate.
Her reaction came shortly after INEC announced that the recall petition against her failed to meet constitutional requirements and would not proceed further.
Describing the move as a “fake process” orchestrated by political opponents, the senator singled out former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, whom she accused of being a key player in the failed recall attempt.
“God has put to shame those plotting my recall, including one of the most wanted persons by the EFCC, former governor Yahaya Bello. I never feared because I serve a God that never fails, and I have the people’s support,” she declared.
She further commended INEC for demonstrating true independence, stating that history would remember this moment as a victory for justice.
“This decision is a win against injustice. INEC has proven itself as an impartial umpire, setting the record straight according to the laws of our land. To God be the glory, we have defeated them again,” she added.
Akpoti-Uduaghan vowed to continue her mission of fighting for justice and ensuring a better Nigeria, while warning her political opponents that their time in power is running out.
