The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that the petition seeking to recall Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central, has failed to meet constitutional requirements.
In an official statement released via its X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday, April 3, INEC clarified that the petition did not fulfill the provisions outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended),” INEC stated.
This decision effectively puts a halt to the recall process, reaffirming the constitutional safeguards that guide such political actions.
