“I Was Raped by a Colleague” — Actress Lolo 1 Opens Up About Painful Past

By NIGPOST
Nigerian actress and media personality, Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo 1, has shared a deeply personal and heartbreaking story about her past.

In a recent episode of her podcast “Say My Piece”, the beloved entertainer revealed she was raped by a male colleague in the broadcasting industry.

Speaking with raw emotion, Lolo 1 explained that the experience has haunted her for years. “I have only been raped once in my life, and it was by a colleague,” she said. “I see him every other day, and every time I do, I feel a wave of panic.”

The actress admitted that she’s held back from revealing the man’s identity because of fear of public judgment. “He’s now an established figure in the broadcast industry. If I mention his name now, people will question why I stayed silent for six years,” she said.

She highlighted how victims of sexual assault often suffer in silence due to denial and self-blame. “When sexual assault happens to women, the first thing to happen is denial. The next is self-blaming,” she shared, underlining the emotional toll survivors endure.

Lolo 1 also spoke about a touching moment she had with her daughter. “When I discussed it with my daughter, she held my hand and said, ‘Mummy, you’ve gone through so much.’ And I said, yes, I have.”

Her bravery in sharing this story has sparked conversations online, reminding the public that no one is immune to trauma — no matter their status or success.

At NIGPOST, we stand with survivors of sexual violence and continue to advocate for safe spaces where every voice can be heard and supported.
