In a tense Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, Rasmus Hojlund rescued Manchester United with a last-gasp goal, forcing a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth’s ten-man squad.
United, still struggling under Ruben Amorim’s leadership, fell behind when Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo capitalized on a defensive mistake to fire home the opener in the 23rd minute.
Despite early chances from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, United’s promising start quickly faded under the south-coast sun.
Bournemouth’s momentum was disrupted late in the game when Evanilson was controversially sent off following a VAR review, reducing the hosts to ten men. Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag last November, remains under pressure despite insisting he has no regrets about his decision to join the club. With only six league victories since his arrival, United now look toward their Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao as their last chance to bring some pride to an otherwise bleak campaign.
The need for significant improvement is obvious, especially with Liverpool eyeing their 20th English title, a painful reminder of how far United have fallen. As the Red Devils head back to Old Trafford, a major rebuild seems inevitable if they are to compete at the top once more.
