Heartbreaking Loss: EFCC Officer Found Dead in Lagos, Investigations Begin

Tragedy has struck as an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), assigned to the Lagos Division, was discovered dead in an undisclosed location within Lagos State.

A video making rounds online on Monday captured the heartbreaking scene, showing the lifeless body of the officer, who wasn’t in uniform, lying on the ground surrounded by sympathizers and police officers.

In the video, officers were seen searching the deceased’s bag, where they found an identity card confirming that he was an EFCC operative.

“He works with EFCC. His ID card is with him,” a voice in the video stated, adding to the somber mood of the discovery.

Speaking on the incident, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the tragic event and assured the public that an investigation is underway to uncover the cause of death.

“Yes, the man is our officer. His death is being investigated. The incident happened on Sunday,” Oyewale said.

This unfortunate news comes just weeks after another devastating incident involving the EFCC.

On January 15, an officer, Assistant Superintendent Aminu Salisu, lost his life after being shot by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Ikechukwu, during a raid in Onitsha, Anambra State.

At NIGPOST, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the deceased officer.

We will continue to monitor and report developments on this story as they unfold.
