Hajj Preparation Abuja 2025: FCT Muslim Pilgrims Complete Final Orientation as Board Prepares 4,000 for Spiritual Journey
As the sacred pilgrimage of Hajj approaches in 2025, thousands of Muslim faithful in Nigeria are finalizing preparations for their once-in-a-lifetime journey.
In Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board is working diligently to ensure all 4,000 registered intending pilgrims are spiritually,
mentally, and logistically prepared for the journey to the Holy Land.
Indeed, Hajj Preparation Abuja 2025 Welfare Board has been conducting a comprehensive orientation programme
that spans several weeks and includes educational workshops, religious briefings, and practical demonstrations.
The programme aims to ensure that all participants understand the spiritual significance of Hajj
and are fully equipped to perform the required rites in accordance with Islamic principles and modern logistical realities.
According to the Director of the Board, Alhaji Kadiri Edah, the final leg of the orientation is set for Saturday,
April 26 and Sunday, April 27 at the Permanent Hajj Camp in Bassan Jiwa, close to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
However, the final sessions will feature practical demonstrations and real-life simulations of the Hajj rituals,
including how to perform Tawaf (circumambulation), Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwa), and other rites.
Similarly,“These final sessions are crucial,” Edah explained.
Although,“They will provide pilgrims with hands-on guidance to help them navigate the Hajj rituals effectively and in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Moreso, we want to ensure that no pilgrim is left confused or overwhelmed during the actual pilgrimage.”
Furthermore,to ensure inclusivity, the Board has arranged for the training to be conducted in seven local languages,
including Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Nupe, Gwari, Kanuri, and English.
This multilingual approach ensures that language does not become a barrier to understanding the Hajj rituals.
Training Focus and Key Updates
Alhaji Edah also noted that the phased orientation model was intentionally adopted to provide focused sessions
on both traditional practices and newly introduced guidelines by the Saudi Arabian government and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Moreover, this year, new health and security measures have been introduced due to global health concerns,
and pilgrims are being briefed on the importance of compliance to ensure safety.
Among the new updates are:
- Updated visa processing protocols.
- Health requirements, including mandatory vaccinations.
- Travel documentation, insurance, and biometric verification.
- Enhanced security screenings and crowd control measures by Saudi authorities.
Edah emphasized the importance of these new procedures, stating:
“The goal is to ensure that every pilgrim is not only spiritually prepared but also fully informed of the expectations of the Saudi government to prevent complications during the pilgrimage.”
Documentation and Urgent Notices
The Board has urged all intending pilgrims to submit their completed application forms and valid international passports without delay.
Delays in document submission can lead to missed travel windows and complications in visa processing.
“We are appealing to anyone who has not yet submitted the required documents to do so immediately,” Edah warned.
“Time is of the essence, and we are running against strict deadlines imposed by both Nigerian and Saudi authorities.”

Beyond orientation, the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has taken proactive steps to ensure a smooth departure and arrival process for all pilgrims.
The Board is working closely with airline carriers, immigration officers, airport authorities, and certified travel agents to coordinate logistics efficiently.
Steps being taken include:
- Batch-wise grouping of pilgrims for flight arrangements.
- Airport pre-check-in support.
- Dedicated help desks at departure terminals.
- Real-time updates and guidance via SMS and WhatsApp groups.
Spiritual Preparedness and Emotional Readiness
Hajj is more than just a physical journey it is a deeply spiritual experience that marks a pinnacle in the life of every Muslim.
The Board has therefore included emotional and spiritual counseling as part of the training sessions, led by seasoned Islamic scholars and counselors.
One of the scholars, Sheikh Musa Abdullahi, reminded pilgrims: “You are not just going to perform rites.
You are going to answer a sacred call, to seek forgiveness, mercy, and closeness to Allah.
Go with a clean heart, patience, and humility.”
Pilgrims were encouraged to engage in regular prayers, seek forgiveness, settle debts, and make peace with others before embarking on the pilgrimage.

I’ve learned everything from Ihram to stoning the devil. May Allah accept it from all of us.”
