Ghana’s Ruling Party Candidate Concedes Defeat

The Vice President of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, has admitted defeat in the country’s recent presidential election.

Representing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bawumia accepted the outcome and congratulated former President John Dramani Mahama on his win.

This marks the end of the NPP’s eight years in power under President Nana Akufo-Addo, a period plagued by economic difficulties such as rising inflation and a debt crisis.

Supporters of Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are already celebrating their return to leadership.
