A massive fire outbreak occurred at a filling station in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Thursday evening following a fuel tanker explosion.
The incident happened around 8 PM at Shakkotu along Kiyawa Road, causing panic among residents.
Eyewitness Account
According to Baba Nura, a witness at the scene, the explosion was loud, and the fire spread rapidly.
> “I was nearby when I heard a loud explosion. I rushed to the scene and saw the fuel tanker in flames, with fire engulfing almost the entire filling station,” he said.
Several nearby properties were reportedly damaged, but no casualties have been confirmed.
Police Confirm Incident
The Jigawa State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the explosion, stating that authorities received a report around 8 PM and responded immediately.
> “Our officers, along with the fire service, rushed to the scene to contain the fire. So far, there are no reported deaths, but investigations are ongoing,” Adam stated.
Attempts to reach the filling station’s manager for comments were unsuccessful, as he was unavailable, and staff declined to speak on the matter.
