Footballer Adeyemi Adewale Dies During Match in Osun

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the unfortunate death of Adeyemi Adewale, a 29-year-old footballer from the Ilesa West Local Government Area team, who collapsed during a match in Osogbo on Thursday.

Adewale was participating in the Adeleke Memorial Cup Final at the Ataoja School of Science when he suddenly fell on the field.

Despite swift efforts to revive him, Adewale was rushed to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where he was sadly declared dead upon arrival by the attending doctors.

Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the incident and explained that an investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding his sudden collapse.

She shared the details of the incident, stating, “Today, while the Adeleke Memorial Cup Final match was taking place at Ataoja School of Science, Adeyemi Adewale, aged 29, collapsed on the pitch. He was rushed to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.”

Authorities have taken the deceased’s remains to the morgue at the teaching hospital, and the investigation continues.
