Fire Destroys Three Trucks in Kwara Park, Authorities Urge Caution

A fire outbreak at Alagbede Tipper Garage in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State in the early hours of Tuesday destroyed three trucks, officials confirmed.

The fire, which started around 1:45 a.m., reportedly originated from a waste collection truck that had refuse inside. The flames quickly spread to two other trucks before firefighters successfully contained the blaze.

Swift Response from Firefighters

The Kwara State Fire Service responded promptly after receiving a distress call at 1:35 a.m. According to the service’s spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, their timely intervention prevented further damage.

“Upon arrival, our team found several trucks at risk, with some already engulfed in flames. Thanks to swift action, only three out of the 42 trucks in the garage were affected,” Adekunle stated.

Investigations revealed that the fire was caused by smoldering charcoal left inside the waste truck, which eventually ignited and spread.

Officials Advise Vigilance

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Falade John, urged residents to take fire safety precautions seriously to prevent similar incidents.

Meanwhile, in a separate fire incident on Monday, a shop was gutted at No. 1 Awolowo Road, Tanke, Ilorin. Officials linked the cause to a faulty solar battery, emphasizing the importance of proper ventilation for solar installations.
