Abuja—The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Saka Adewale, has directed the State Investigation Department (SID) to take over the probe into the brutal killing of John Johnson, a graduate, allegedly murdered by suspected herdsmen at Zhayidna, near Angwar Hakimi, Orozo.
Residents and members of a youth organization to which the deceased belonged confirmed that the Boys Brigade member was killed on Saturday night, and his body was gruesomely dismembered.
In a statement, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, stated: “The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, has ordered a discreet investigation into the attack on a Boys Brigade camp in Zhayidna Village, Karshi, by unidentified individuals on March 29, 2025.”
“The attack led to the tragic death of one camper, Johnson John, who was rushed to Karshi General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.”
According to Adeh, the investigation is ongoing, and community leaders are cooperating to ensure the culprits are apprehended.

Community Leaders Demand Justice
The Chief of Igala in Orozo, Amadu Zachariah, expressed frustration over the failure of security forces to arrest the perpetrators.
He narrated that the Boys Brigade initially camped in Zaina but had to relocate to a nearby church due to an impending rainstorm.
While two leaders later returned to retrieve their belongings, they were ambushed. One managed to escape, but Johnson was caught and killed.
Eyewitnesses confirmed the tragic incident: “That night, the weather worsened, forcing the children to move to a nearby church for shelter.
Later, two leaders returned to the original campsite, but suspected Fulani herdsmen ambushed them. One escaped, but John Johnson was brutally attacked and killed.”
Local authorities were alerted, and the police launched an investigation. Reports indicated that Fulani herdsmen in the area fled, heightening suspicions of their involvement.
