Father Claims to Have Killed His Baby Son Under a Spell

A tragic event occurred in the Keesi area of Adatan, Abeokuta, when Ifagbenga Taiwo, a trainee herbalist, was arrested for allegedly killing his 41-day-old son. Taiwo claimed that he was under the influence of a spell when he took the life of his child.

The incident happened when the baby’s mother, Raimat Wasilat, briefly stepped out of the house to wash clothes, leaving her infant on the bed. Upon her return, she was horrified to find her son’s throat had been slit. She immediately raised an alarm, leading to Taiwo’s arrest.

In his statement, Taiwo explained that he had gone to work earlier but realized he had forgotten his protective charms. When he returned home to retrieve them, he began feeling uneasy and restless, as if something was compelling him to act. In a confused state, he took a knife and, tragically, ended his son’s life.

Taiwo expressed deep sorrow and remorse, explaining that he never intended to harm his wife or abandon her.
