NIGPOST – Ruben Amorim: Guardiola’s New Contract at Man City Is a Challenge for Everyone
New Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has expressed that Pep Guardiola’s recent decision to extend his contract with Manchester City is “a problem for everybody.
” The 39-year-old Amorim is preparing for his first match in charge of United, set to face Ipswich on Sunday.
Amorim’s appointment at Old Trafford has coincided with Guardiola’s new deal, which will see him remain at Manchester City until 2027.
Reflecting on the challenge of competing against a team managed by one of the best in the world, Amorim acknowledged that Guardiola’s presence at City raises the stakes for all teams in the Premier League.
He commented, “I think it’s a problem for everybody but we have so much to do, we cannot focus on anybody else.
We just have to focus on improving our club and not on the other clubs.
It’s amazing—if you can beat that team, it’s a good sign. But we are focused on Manchester United.”
Amorim is aiming to become the first Manchester United manager to win the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
Despite the challenges ahead, his focus remains on strengthening the squad and returning United to its former glory, without being distracted by the dominance of rival clubs like Manchester City.
