Eid-el-Fitr: Security Boosted in Katsina, Kebbi as Kano Suspends Sallah Durbar

As the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr approaches, security agencies in Katsina, Kebbi, and Kano states are taking extra measures to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration for all.

In Katsina, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 2,160 personnel across the state to maintain order.

The agency’s spokesperson, Buhari Hamisu, called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. He also extended warm wishes to the people of Katsina, hoping for a peaceful and joyous Sallah.

Over in Kano, the state police command has announced a total ban on the traditional Sallah Durbar, citing security concerns. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori explained that the decision was made after consulting with security agencies and government officials.

He emphasized the need to prevent any potential disturbances and urged worshippers heading to Eid prayer grounds to follow security guidelines.

Similarly, in Kebbi, the state police command has intensified patrols and visibility policing to ensure a smooth celebration. Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani directed officers to be on high alert while the command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, extended Eid greetings to the Muslim community.

He encouraged residents to use the festive period for prayers and reflection, calling for peace and unity in the country.

With these security measures in place, authorities are assuring Nigerians of a safe and incident-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
