FG Reaffirms Commitment to Ending Insecurity in the South-East

In an ongoing effort to ensure peace and stability in the South-East, the Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the region’s security challenges.

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, made the statement during his operational visit to Enugu State, where he interacted with officers from the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South East Operation Udoka.

During the visit, Badaru emphasized the importance of security in fostering business growth and overall prosperity, stressing that without security, peace and development would remain out of reach.

He further urged the security personnel to intensify their efforts in combating insecurity across the region.

The Defence Minister also reassured the people of the South-East of the federal government’s unwavering determination to fight insecurity.

He referenced significant progress made under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, highlighting the renewed commitment to intensify efforts in eradicating all forms of insecurity.

Major-General Hassan Dada, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South East Operation Udoka, outlined the army’s plans to ensure security during the upcoming festive season.

He revealed that through Operation Udoka, the military aims to provide a secure environment that will facilitate the safe return of travelers for Christmas.

Continuing his operational tour, Badaru also visited Imo State, where he met with military personnel stationed at various bases, including the Forward Operation Base in Okigwe and the Naval Base in Oguta.

He commended the troops for their ongoing successes and reiterated the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to supporting a peaceful and secure environment in the South-East, which is vital for both business and community development.

In a meeting with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, Badaru expressed his gratitude for the state’s cooperation with the military, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling insecurity.

The Defence Minister concluded by reaffirming the government’s dedication to ending insecurity throughout Nigeria, with particular focus on the South-East, ensuring that it remains a conducive environment for prosperity and peace.
