In a remarkable act of philanthropy, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has distributed 35,000 bags of rice to vulnerable individuals across Katsina State.
This initiative is part of a nationwide food relief program aimed at supporting over one million Nigerians facing economic hardship.
Massive Food Aid Across Nigeria
The donation in Katsina follows the ongoing distribution of one million bags of rice worth ₦16 billion across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria.
The gesture is designed to ease the economic burden on struggling families, especially during Ramadan.
At the flag-off event held at Muhammad Dikko Stadium, ADF representative Mustapha Umar emphasized that beneficiaries were selected from all 361 wards in Katsina’s 34 local government areas.
“This initiative is part of the foundation’s humanitarian efforts to alleviate hunger and support fasting Muslims during Ramadan,” Umar stated.
Government and Community Applaud the Initiative
Dr. Aminu Usman, Commander of the Hisbah Board in Katsina, praised the effort, noting that it complements the state’s free Ramadan feeding program.
He urged other wealthy individuals to follow Dangote’s example and assist the less privileged.
Many beneficiaries, including physically challenged individuals, expressed deep gratitude for the food aid, with some needing assistance to collect their share.
The food distribution was supervised by state officials, including members of the Hisbah Board and the State Community Development Programme, ensuring a fair and transparent process.
With Nigeria grappling with rising food prices and economic challenges, the Dangote Foundation’s intervention comes as a lifeline for thousands.
