Dangote Cement Boosts Educational Support, Doubles Bursary for Benue Students

In a heartwarming gesture aimed at promoting education and empowering the youth, Dangote Cement Plc has announced a significant increase in bursary payments for students from its host communities in Benue State. Bursary Payments Doubled
The announcement was made during a special ceremony held at the Dangote Cement Gboko Plant. Engr. Murusamy Murugan, the Acting Plant Director, disclosed that the bursary payment for students would more than double to ₦22,800 starting from 2025. This decision follows persistent appeals from the Mbayion community, emphasizing the community’s need for increased educational assistance.

Engr. Murugan reaffirmed the company’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of its host communities. He stated, “We are not just here to do business; we are here to make a meaningful impact. This bursary increase is a testament to our commitment to education and the development of our communities.”

Appreciation from Community Leaders
The announcement was met with gratitude from community leaders and stakeholders. His Royal Highness, Ikpa Ahua, the Mue Ter Gboko, expressed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by Dangote Cement. He highlighted the company’s efforts in offering employment opportunities to locals, fostering stronger ties with the community.

Comrade Orver Yongu, President of the Yion Development Association, also lauded the company for its unwavering commitment. He noted how Dangote Cement has consistently supported the community, including financial contributions to major community events.

Dr. Eugene Ivase, the outgoing Deputy General Manager of the Social Performance Department, assured the community of the company’s enduring dedication to their welfare. He encouraged traditional rulers and elders to maintain their cooperation, promising more impactful initiatives in the future.
