The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that 573,519 applicants have submitted entries for its 2024/2025 recruitment, competing for just 3,927 available positions.
This comes barely a week after the recruitment portal opened.
Finance Minister Olawale Edun earlier disclosed the Federal Government’s approval to hire 3,927 officers into the Customs Service, a decision that has sparked widespread interest among job seekers nationwide.
Breaking down the statistics, the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, provided a detailed report:
Superintendent Cadre (General Duty): 249,218 applicants
Superintendent Cadre (Support Staff): 27,722 candidates with HNDs and university degrees
Inspector Cadre (General Duty): 115,634 applicants
Inspector Cadre (Support Staff): 12,952 candidates with NCE or National Diploma qualifications
Customs Assistant Cadre (General Duty): 153,593 applicants
Customs Assistant Cadre (Support Staff): 14,400 candidates with secondary school certificates
Maiwada highlighted the stringent requirements for each category, ensuring only qualified candidates meet the standards set by the NCS.
