At least one person has been killed and several others injured following a cult clash between the Vikings Confraternity and the Black Axe in Delta State.
The deadly confrontation occurred on Sunday in Ozoro, the headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area.
The victim, a man alleged to be part of the Vikings Confraternity, was attacked and murdered by the rival Black Axe group near Etevie community, located within the Ozoro kingdom.
A disturbing video that surfaced on social media shows the lifeless body of the victim, identified as “Sunday”, with visible injuries across his body.
The Cause of the Clash
According to sources, the violence began several days earlier when an unknown individual was severely beaten by a group of cultists for reasons that are still unclear.
“The incident started about a week ago when some cult members assaulted a guy, whose identity remains unknown,” an anonymous source revealed.
Police Respond to the Incident
As tensions rise, the Nigeria Police Force has been seen patrolling the area and conducting raids in an attempt to restore peace.
At the time of this report, there was no official confirmation on the exact number of those injured.
Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the clash and assured the public that authorities are doing everything to maintain order.
The violence has caused unease in the university community, and authorities are focused on preventing further escalation.
