Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted bail by an Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, following his arraignment on multiple charges.
Portable was charged with criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking. The court on Monday approved his release on bail set at ₦1 million, with the condition that he provides two sureties of the same value.
According to the ruling, one of the sureties must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). The second must own a property within a Government Reserved Area (GRA) and present a valid Certificate of Occupancy as proof.
The court proceedings come shortly after Portable was reportedly remanded in a correctional facility for failing to meet his bail conditions. More details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds.
