Tragedy in Bauchi: Businessman Arrested for Flogging Wife to Death Over Food Dispute
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a businessman, 50-year-old Nuru Isah, for allegedly beating his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdulahi, to death during an argument over food items meant for breaking the Ramadan fast.
According to a statement from the Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on Saturday night in the Fadamam Mada area of Bauchi State.
Reports indicate that the dispute escalated when Isah allegedly used a cane to flog his wife until she collapsed.
Despite being rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police Investigation Underway
Following the tragic event, the Bauchi State Police swung into action, arresting the suspect and recovering the cane allegedly used in the assault.
“The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhamad, has assured the public that justice will be served.
The Bauchi State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and will not tolerate such acts of violence,” Wakil stated.
The deceased has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, while the police continue their investigation.
