Bauchi Assembly Approves Eight New Commissioners

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has officially screened and approved eight new commissioner-nominees appointed by Governor Bala Mohammed.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman, announced the approval following a thorough screening process conducted during the Assembly’s plenary session on Thursday.

Hon. Isa Babayo Tilde (Toro Local Government)

Abdullahi Mohammed (Misau Local Government)

Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi (Dass Local Government)

Usman Usman Shehu (Shira Local Government)

Iliyasu Aliyu Gital (Tafawa Balewa Local Government)

Prof. Titus Saul Ketkukah (Tafawa Balewa Local Government)

Hon. Adamu Babayo Gabarin (Darazo Local Government)

Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimin Zayam (Toro Local Government)

During the same plenary session, the House commended the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of state-owned tertiary institutions for suspending their strike action.

The Speaker lauded the goodwill displayed by JAC and emphasized the importance of trust in the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns.

The House Committee on Education presented a report from recent stakeholder discussions. Key recommendations included:

Implementing the agreed COMPASS and CONTEDIS salary structures.

Establishing a monitoring body with representatives from JAC, government, and heads of institutions to ensure compliance.

Prioritizing education through increased funding and staffing to avert future industrial actions.

These efforts aim to foster stability in the education sector while addressing the challenges faced by tertiary institutions in the state.
