The family of Brig. Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), former director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has debunked reports that he has been freed from captivity, stating that they are still waiting for his release despite concluding negotiations with his abductors.
Speaking in Katsina, Abdulahi Tsiga, a relative of the retired general, confirmed that all terms agreed upon with the kidnappers had been met, yet the family was still awaiting his freedom.
False Reports on Tsiga’s Release
He dismissed rumors circulating about Tsiga’s release, emphasizing that while the family had done everything required, the bandits had yet to fulfill their part of the agreement.
However, he expressed hope that the ex-NYSC DG would soon regain his freedom.
Brig. Gen. Tsiga was abducted from his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State on February 6, 2025.
His kidnappers, led by a notorious bandit leader, initially demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release.
As the family continues to wait, concerns are growing over the increasing cases of kidnappings across the country, with many calling for stronger security measures to curb the menace.
