Former Minister Rauf Aregbesola Extends Forgiveness
Former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has publicly forgiven Sikiru Olaboye, the man accused of attempting to assassinate him during the 2006 Oroki Day celebration in Osogbo.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Aregbesola revealed that Olaboye recently called into a local radio station in Osogbo to seek his forgiveness.
> “Earlier today, I received Sikiru Olaboye, one of the men who attempted to assassinate me during the 2006 Oroki Day Celebration in Osogbo. I was informed that he had called into a radio station a few weeks ago to ask for my forgiveness.”
No Grudges, No Revenge
Aregbesola assured Olaboye that he harbored no resentment and never sought revenge after surviving the attack nearly two decades ago.
> “While praying for him today, I assured him that I hold no grudges against him or anyone else involved. I neither sought revenge nor harbored bitterness after God spared me from that attack.”
He emphasized that forgiveness is divine, stating:
> “It is God alone who has the power to forgive all our shortcomings. As His servants, I pray that He forgives both his and mine.”
