APC Condemns Media Attacks on Leaders, Warns Unauthorized Groups
The All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central has strongly warned unrecognized groups using the party’s name to make inflammatory statements and attack party leaders in the media.
This was stated by the APC National Vice Chairman (North Central), Hon. Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, and Zonal Secretary, Hon. Yakubu Adamu, following a high-level meeting with seven state chairmen of the party in Abuja.
Legal Action Looms for Offenders
The party leadership expressed concern over the rising trend of unauthorized groups using the APC’s zonal name to insult and defame key figures.
They particularly condemned the recent media attacks on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
“We categorically reject these attacks and warn these groups to stop immediately, or face legal consequences,” the statement read.
The party emphasized that only the recognized zonal leadership, approved by the National Working Committee (NWC), is authorized to make official statements on behalf of the APC in North Central.
Vote of Confidence on Party Leadership
During the meeting, the APC North Central leadership passed a vote of confidence on the SGF and the five state governors in the zone.
“We commend our leaders, particularly Senator George Akume and the governors, for their unwavering dedication to the party’s growth and governance,” the statement added.
The party also applauded the Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led NWC for providing strong leadership and direction.
Call for Party Unity
The APC urged members to remain loyal and committed to the party’s vision and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
“We encourage all party members to uphold the values of the APC and work together for a stronger, united party,” the statement concluded.
