Anambra APC Guber Aspirant Supports Tinubu’s Appointment of APGA Members

The recent appointments of members from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) into President Bola Tinubu’s administration have stirred up some controversy, with critics questioning whether the decisions reflect fairness and political balance. However, Sir Paul Chukwuma, a key governorship aspirant for the 2025 Anambra State election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come to the president’s defense, stating that there is nothing wrong with the appointments.Notable appointees include Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, the wife of the late Ikemba Nnewi and a member of the APGA Board of Trustees, who was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Also appointed was Mr. Mark Okoye, a former Commissioner and Managing Director of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), who will now serve as the Director General of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).In a media interaction in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, Chukwuma responded to the growing criticisms, particularly the idea that the APC-led federal government has not paid enough attention to the Igbo people. He stressed that while APC is a political party with its own agenda, the country is a federation, and every region should engage positively with the federal government.Chukwuma asked, “Are these appointees not from Anambra? Does the president not have the right to appoint whoever he deems fit?” He noted that even if the appointments had gone to people from other regions, there would still be complaints. “For me, as an APC leader, I see nothing wrong in what the president has done,” he said, challenging APGA’s claim that it was behind these appointments. “If they say they nominated these individuals, let them show proof,” Chukwuma added, emphasizing that the president acted in response to concerns about Igbo marginalization, making these appointments as a sign of inclusivity.Chukwuma also took the opportunity to highlight the APC’s open approach to political inclusiveness. “We don’t believe in winner-takes-all politics,” he said. “The APC embraces individuals with credibility, regardless of their political background, as long as they are committed to serving in this government.”He also pointed out the contradictions within APGA, accusing the party of downplaying the significance of the APC in Anambra, yet simultaneously seeking recognition from the federal government. “APGA claims to have an alliance with the APC in Abuja, but that’s not the case. If the president has appointed 20 individuals from Anambra and two of them happen to be from APGA, it only shows the president’s inclusive leadership,” Chukwuma stated.In closing, Chukwuma revealed that many APGA members are eager to secure positions within the APC-led government.
