Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade, the Alaafin-elect of Oyo, is set to receive his certificate of office today from Governor Seyi Makinde.
Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade, recently appointed as the Alaafin-elect of Oyo, is expected to officially receive his certificate of office today, January 13, 2025.
According to a palace insider, the presentation will be carried out by Governor Seyi Makinde in a low-key ceremony aimed at expediting preparations for the Alaafin-elect’s coronation.
The palace source, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that Prince Owoade has been in Ibadan since yesterday in anticipation of the event.
“We anticipate he will be presented with the certificate of office today, Insha Allah,” the source confirmed.
A Low-key but Significant Event
Describing the event as impromptu, the source explained that the decision to fast-track the certificate presentation underscores the urgency of making arrangements for the official coronation of the new Alaafin.
“Though we didn’t expect the process to be this swift, it is clear that this move is to ensure smooth preparations for the coronation,” he added.
Prince Owoade is expected to return to Oyo town shortly after receiving the certificate, which marks a critical step in solidifying his appointment as the Alaafin of Oyo.
