The AYC National Secretary, Abiodun Aderohunmu, confirmed Olajuni’s release on Saturday, March 1, 2025, stating that a ransom was paid to secure his freedom.

Details of Olajuni’s Release

In a statement, Aderohunmu expressed relief over the safe return of the youth leader, emphasizing that his health and well-being remain a priority.

“We are delighted to announce that our president, Prince Eniola Joseph Olajuni, has been freed. He was released today, March 1, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM.”

He also thanked individuals and organizations who supported the council during this difficult time.

Gunmen Demanded ₦100 Million Ransom

Olajuni was kidnapped in Abuja on February 18, 2025, with his abductors demanding ₦100 million for his release.

During the abduction, he suffered a gunshot wound to the buttock, raising concerns about his safety.

On February 24, a disturbing video surfaced on social media, showing him pleading for financial assistance while a gunman pointed an AK-47 at him.

Call for Improved Security

Following Olajuni’s ordeal, the AYC has urged the government to take urgent steps to address insecurity across the country.

“Security remains a key responsibility of the government. We call on the authorities to intensify efforts in protecting citizens from such criminal activities,” Aderohunmu stated.

Olajuni is currently receiving medical treatment, and further details on his condition are expected in the coming days.
