A youth leader, Abe Samuel, raised the alarm after witnessing an attack on a Toyota Hilux vehicle on the Wukari–Kente Road in Taraba State. The vehicle, bearing registration number FG 117-B03, was found abandoned with a flat tire — but the occupants were missing.

Swift Military Response Leads to Rescue Operation

Troops immediately launched a joint search and rescue mission. After hours of intense tracking through the terrain, the team successfully rescued all six victims by 6:00 a.m. on April 28. Among them was the Deputy Commander of NDLEA Zone 1, Ibadan, Mr. Musa Hudu.

Victims Escape into Bush During Attack

Preliminary investigations revealed that three armed men, wielding local dane guns, had opened fire on the vehicle. In the midst of the gunfire, the victims managed to flee into the surrounding bush to avoid being captured.

Thanks to the efficiency of the responding troops, all victims were rescued unharmed. They were later escorted out of the danger zone and permitted to continue their journey after their vehicle was repaired.
