Super Falcons Star Peace Ogebe Slams Govt’s Silence Over Benue Killings, Demands Urgent Action

Super Falcons forward, Peace Ogebe, has voiced her deep frustration and heartbreak over the relentless violence tearing through her native Benue State, calling out the federal government for its silence amid the bloodshed.

Taking to her official X handle, the Nigerian international didn’t mince words as she questioned the authorities’ apparent indifference to the recent attacks in Otukpo and Otobi-Akpa communities within Otukpo LGA.

“Why all the killing? What is their goal?” she wrote passionately. “Why is the government silent in the face of such brutality? Do they not know how to respond, or are they choosing to remain indifferent?”

Ogebe’s message comes in the wake of horrifying reports detailing how armed assailants stormed local villages, razed homes, and left countless families homeless and in mourning.

Sharing her emotional turmoil, the football star admitted that the situation in her homeland has taken a toll on her personally. “I find it hard to sleep these days because of the tragic events unfolding in Benue State. It’s unbearable,” she added.

She didn’t stop there. Ogebe made an urgent appeal to those in power, stressing the need for immediate and decisive intervention to protect innocent lives and restore calm to the region.

Benue State, often plagued by violent conflicts, has once again become the scene of devastation, with residents demanding justice and protection. Ogebe’s heartfelt outcry echoes the growing frustration among Nigerians who feel abandoned by those meant to safeguard them.
