The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has urged the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde to extend the installation of CCTV cameras to the Oyo-Fiditi road to strengthen security in the region.
Oba Owoade made the request during a recent courtesy visit to the governor at his private residence in Ikolaba, Ibadan. According to a statement released by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the monarch noted that while CCTV cameras have already been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi, similar measures should be taken along the Oyo-Fiditi route.
“I want to appeal to the State Government for the installation of CCTV cameras between Oyo and Fiditi. These cameras had been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi towns,” he said.
The Alaafin praised Governor Makinde for his objectivity, dedication, and commitment to the well-being of Oyo citizens. He described the governor as someone who values logic and evidence and is always ready to listen to superior arguments.
Oba Owoade also commended the governor’s passion for the emancipation and development of the people, highlighting the importance of open communication and transparency in leadership.
The monarch was accompanied by his wife, Ayaba Abiwunmi, during the visit. He offered prayers for Governor Makinde’s continued good health and longevity in office, urging the people of the state to support the administration with full cooperation.
In his response, Governor Makinde reaffirmed his commitment to due process, especially in the selection of the new Alaafin. He emphasized the importance of impartial decision-making and transparency in leadership, which fosters public trust.
The governor also assured Oba Owoade of his administration’s plans to renovate and reconstruct the Alaafin Palace to reflect the significance of the revered institution.
