In a determined move to ensure justice, an Oyo State Magistrate Court sitting in the Orile-Igbon Magisterial District, Ogbomoso, has ordered the remand of fifteen individuals linked to the brutal April 5, 2025 attack on Aagba village in Surulere Local Government Area.
According to Adewale Osifeso, spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, the suspects have been transferred to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abolongo. They are facing serious charges, including criminal conspiracy, arson, armed robbery, and murder.
The Aagba community was left in ruins after a group of armed attackers—believed to be from neighboring areas—stormed the village, leaving destruction and grief in their wake.
Tragically, nine houses were burnt down, and a 70-year-old resident succumbed to injuries sustained during the violent invasion.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, had visited the community a day after the incident and vowed that all those responsible would be hunted down and prosecuted.
Following intensive investigations, the police arrested the following suspects: Olayiwola Adisa, Shittu Waliu, Ibrahim Shareef, Shittu Ibrahim, Gabriel Aderinto, Oyetunde Kazeem, Bakare Sikiru, Babatunde Raimi, Adewuyi Emmanuel, Aderemi Kunle, Salawudeen Ismail, Jimoh Damilare, Oyebamiji Tunji, Ayankolade Femi, and Ogunleye Taiwo.
Many of them were found hiding in the thick forests near Ejigbo, attempting to evade capture. Meanwhile, police operatives are still on the trail of other suspects who remain at large.
The Police Command has urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and to resist taking the law into their hands. They also appealed for community support by reporting any suspicious movements to law enforcement.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring peace and safety across Oyo State and will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on anyone who attempts to disrupt public order,” Osifeso affirmed.
