Killaboi Brought Back to Nigeria From Qatar to Face Murder Charges Over 21-Year-Old Student’s Death
The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, widely known as “Killaboi”, from Doha, Qatar. He is the prime suspect in the tragic killing of his ex-girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student from Lead City University.
The incident took place on July 13, 2023, at Killaboi’s residence in Ajah, Lagos. After allegedly committing the crime, Nnayereugo fled the country. He later shared a controversial online video confessing to the crime — a move authorities believe was intended to confuse investigators and delay justice.
According to a police statement issued on Saturday, April 19, 2025, the extradition was the result of a joint operation involving Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, Qatari law enforcement, and other international partners.
The police revealed that a petition filed by Augusta’s family on September 29, 2024, led to the investigation. INTERPOL NCB Abuja took over the case, issuing a Red Notice after Killaboi was declared wanted by the Lagos State CID in October 2023.
Nnayereugo’s international run saw him arrested in Sierra Leone under the fake name “Kanu Princeton Samuel,” but he escaped custody during a prison break in November 2023.
He later traveled across different countries in West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East, using multiple fake identities. He finally settled in Qatar in January 2025 under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye” with a forged Guinean passport.
Advanced biometric systems eventually unmasked him, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025. With approval from Qatar’s judicial system and through the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja, he was finally returned to Nigeria.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the collaboration between nations in tracking fugitives. He assured Nigerians that Killaboi will face a thorough prosecution, reaffirming the Police’s dedication to justice and public safety.
