Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has sounded the alarm over the current political situation in Rivers State, blaming the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, for steering the state toward potential unrest.
In a passionate Easter message released through his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, Secondus condemned the Administrator’s actions, describing them as dangerous and capable of igniting crisis.
He expressed deep concern over what he called “a keg of gunpowder” building up in the state due to poor leadership and power struggles.
He didn’t mince words as he cautioned those he described as “playing God” in the affairs of Rivers, warning them to be mindful of divine consequences. According to him, the destiny of millions of Rivers people should not be toyed with by a few individuals for personal gain.
Secondus called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene by reinstating the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who he said still holds the people’s mandate. “President Tinubu must not allow himself to be misled on the situation in Rivers. It’s time to listen to the voice of reason and restore democratic order,” he stated.
He also appreciated the Ijaw nation, acknowledging their resilience and leadership across Nigeria, even amidst the rising tension in Rivers.
Touching on the broader state of insecurity in the country, Secondus emphasized the need for continuous prayers. “Nigeria is battling with challenges from all angles — insecurity, bad governance, and a struggling economy. Now more than ever, we need divine intervention,” he urged.
As the Easter season symbolizes hope and renewal, Secondus encouraged Christians to live in unity, love, and compassion. “Let us remember that after the pain of Good Friday came the joy of Resurrection Sunday. Nigeria too can rise again,” he added.
He ended his message with a call to political leaders: “Let justice and fairness guide your actions. Fear God and remember your responsibility to the people.”
