Five people have been confirmed dead following a tragic accident on the Karu Bridge, located along the inward Karu Site in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the incident was caused by a truck loaded with cement that lost its brakes while descending the Kugbo hill.
The truck collided with several vehicles and their passengers before trying to flee the scene. However, it was intercepted by commercial motorcyclists near the Karu Roundabout.
This latest accident comes just a month after another fatal crash on the same Karu Bridge, involving a Dangote trailer powered by CNG, which also lost its brakes and claimed multiple lives.
Authorities have secured the area, and security operatives are working to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
