In the early hours of Tuesday, unknown gunmen attacked the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Ihima, located in the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Eyewitness reports revealed that the armed men, carrying cutlasses and guns, arrived at about 1:00 am. They vandalized parts of the house, shattered windows, and caused fear among residents. At least three assailants were reported to be involved in the incident.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Chief Security Officer, Yakubu Ovanja, quickly alerted law enforcement. Officers from the Okehi Police Division responded and secured the area.
While no injuries were reported and no arrests have been made, security agencies have begun a preliminary investigation to uncover the motive behind the attack. The Senator has not yet issued a public statement on the matter.
This development follows recent headlines involving Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, particularly her recent sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Security officials, according to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, are working to identify and apprehend the attackers.
