2027 Presidency: I Have What It Takes to Lead Nigeria – Governor Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has boldly declared that he possesses the capacity to lead Nigeria as its president come 2027.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Makinde confidently stated that his track record as governor has equipped him for the highest office in the country.

“I have no doubt about my capacity to occupy the highest office in the land,” he said. “I believe I have what it takes.”

However, the governor clarified that while he trusts in his capabilities, several factors still determine whether he would pursue the presidency. “Is it what I want to do right now? Are Nigerians asking for it? Will my party support it? I’m not sure yet. There’s still time,” Makinde noted.

He emphasized that the top priority for now is fixing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing the importance of a stable platform before any political ambition can be realized.

“Before aspiring to any position, the party must first be stable. That’s the focus at the moment,” he added.

Makinde also made it clear that his current focus is delivering good governance to the people of Oyo State, not playing political games. “I won’t be distracted. I’m focused on the task the people have given me,” he said.

He reaffirmed that any future move he makes would be backed by careful planning and a deep sense of responsibility. “You’ll never see me take a political step without proper preparation and readiness to be held accountable,” Makinde assured.

Looking back on his political journey, Makinde expressed contentment with how far he has come. “When I started out in 2007, I aimed for the Senate. Becoming a governor has surpassed those dreams, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a difference,” he concluded.
