Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has issued a strong warning to individuals or groups planning unscheduled visits to the state, especially without his prior knowledge. He emphasized that he cannot guarantee the safety of such visitors.
In a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State,” the governor advised all visitors to tread carefully and ensure proper communication before traveling into the state.
The statement revealed that Governor Alia is currently tied up in high-level meetings with key stakeholders to address pressing issues affecting Benue. As a result, any uncoordinated visit, especially those with potential political undertones or mass gatherings, will not be tolerated without prior approval.
“For those planning any form of visit to Benue State, particularly high-profile individuals or groups, it is critical to get in touch and seek official clearance. Otherwise, we cannot assure anyone’s security,” the statement said.
Governor Alia also made it clear that anyone intending to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state must first get written approval from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
The government urged security agencies and the general public to take note of the announcement and work together to uphold law and order across the state.
