The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has boldly declared that the recent alliance of key opposition figures—including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Aminu Tambuwal—aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, is doomed to fail.
Ganduje made this statement shortly after he and other top APC leaders paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna over the weekend. Speaking to journalists, Ganduje dismissed the opposition group as an “unnatural alliance” lacking unity and focus.
He said, “That group is nothing to worry about. They are particles that cannot hold together. It’s a game of politics, and we are fully prepared. History is about to repeat itself, and their joint venture will collapse again.”
The APC chairman emphasized the party’s confidence going into the next general elections, claiming not only will the APC retain the presidency, but also gain more governorship seats across the country.
He praised the progress made so far by President Tinubu, stating that the administration’s achievements have strengthened the party’s base and support nationwide.
“We already have 21 APC-controlled states, and we’re targeting even more. Some governors may join us, and where they don’t, we’ll defeat them at the polls,” Ganduje said confidently.
On the issue of lopsided appointments by President Tinubu, Ganduje dismissed the allegations, promising that the party would soon release accurate data to prove that appointments have been fairly distributed.
“We’re compiling the real figures to present to Nigerians. The claim of biased appointments is simply not true,” he noted.
Highlighting the APC’s growing appeal, Ganduje reeled out an impressive list of recent defectors to the ruling party. These include prominent political figures such as:
Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim
Former LP guber candidate in Ebonyi, Edwin Nkwegu
Senator Uche Ekwunife (Anambra)
Senator Obinna Ogba
Former Ondo Governor, Olusegun Mimiko
Former Kaduna Governor, Ramalan Yero
Former Edo Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu
Senator Matthew Onoghide
Senator Halliru Dauda Jika
Senator Shehu Sani
NNPP’s only House of Reps member, Hon. Yusuf Shittu Galambi
And most recently, Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North)
Ganduje also mentioned that several top officials from the NPP, including former Chairman Prof. Rufai Alkali and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, have joined the APC with their supporters.
He concluded by assuring former President Buhari that the APC is growing stronger and remains focused on securing an even greater victory in 2027.
