Tinubu’s Appointments Are Fair and Constitutional — FG Assures Nigerians

The Federal Government has responded to growing concerns over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointments, assuring Nigerians that every decision made so far follows constitutional principles and promotes national unity.

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) addressed the issue on Friday through a statement by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen.

This comes amidst increasing public debates and social media commentary suggesting favoritism in federal appointments.

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South had recently voiced his displeasure, accusing President Tinubu of breaching the federal character principle—a key constitutional mandate meant to ensure balanced representation across Nigeria’s diverse regions.

However, the OSGF pushed back on these allegations, emphasizing that all appointments are made in full compliance with Section 14 of the Nigerian Constitution. The office reiterated the administration’s commitment to fairness, equity, and inclusive governance.

“The President strongly believes in the unity of Nigeria and is guided by principles of justice in all his decisions,” the statement read. “We urge Nigerians not to fall for baseless claims and instead trust verified information from official sources.”

The OSGF also encouraged Nigerians with any doubts or questions to directly contact their office for clarifications, reiterating its role as the official custodian of government appointments.

Highlighting the Renewed Hope Agenda, the office reaffirmed its resolve to represent all regions and demographics fairly in public institutions and urged the public to ignore what it termed “pokers of hate and disunity.”
