
The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the explosion that occurred at a CCTV camera dealer’s shop located on Kodesho Street in Computer Village, Ikeja.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the explosion took place at about 6:35 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025.
He said the scene and surrounding areas were immediately secured by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, alongside Mobile Police and regular patrol teams.
Hundeyin explained that the EOD experts swept the area to eliminate further risk and begin a thorough investigation into what triggered the explosion.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, was also reported to have visited the site promptly to assess the situation firsthand.
“While we continue to determine the exact cause of the explosion, we want to assure the public that there’s no reason to panic. The area has been fully secured, and residents should go about their activities without fear,” Hundeyin stated.
He confirmed that five individuals who were in or around the shop at the time sustained various injuries and were rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical treatment.
The police reassured Lagosians of their unwavering commitment to public safety and called for calm as investigations continue.
