Lagos Police Uncover Baby Factory, Rescue 10 Victims in Shocking Raid
In a major breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a baby factory operating in the Ijegun area of the state. The operation, carried out on April 5, 2025, led to the rescue of 10 victims and the arrest of three suspects.
Speaking at a press briefing, the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the raid was initiated after a tip-off. Swift police action led to the arrest of 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, believed to be the operator of the facility, along with two accomplices—23-year-old Orie Ruth and 18-year-old Ujunwa Ifeanyi.
During the raid, police discovered seven adult women and three children—ages seven, five, and two—being held against their will. The adult victims were identified as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26). The children rescued were Destiny, a seven-year-old boy; Miracle, a five-year-old girl; and Success, a two-year-old girl.
The rescued victims are currently receiving proper medical care and psychological support.
According to police reports, the suspects have confessed to abducting the victims from different parts of Lagos for the purpose of operating a baby factory. The case is currently under investigation, and the suspects will be charged to court soon.
39 Suspects Nabbed for Various Crimes Across Lagos
In his briefing, SP Hundeyin also revealed that the police command arrested 39 suspects within the last two weeks. These individuals were involved in crimes ranging from murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and rape to illegal possession of firearms, vandalism, and drug-related offenses.
Kidnap Victims Rescued in Ikorodu Operation
In a separate case, police operatives successfully rescued two victims who were abducted from the Igbe Alagemo community in Ijede, Ikorodu, on March 26, 2025.
The kidnappers had stormed the home of a 40-year-old man named Dare, fatally shot his security dog, and abducted him. They later kidnapped a second victim, 25-year-old Rodiat, from a nearby house in a similar violent fashion.
Thanks to a coordinated rescue operation involving the police, joint task force, and local vigilantes, both victims were rescued unhurt by 11:56 p.m. on March 29. They have since been reunited with their families.
SP Hundeyin assured residents that surveillance in the area continues as police intensify efforts to apprehend the kidnappers.
